Naming Conventions to be used in CCIP WMS/WCS/WFS Services

It will be helpful for CCIP if all services can use the same naming conventions wherever possible. This is not so much to enable interoperability (The OGC service definitions should do that) as to create some clarity and make it more straightforward to compare data from different services.

These naming conventions are for things such as WCS coverage or WMS layer names, dataset names etc.

Due to space constraints on wiki tables the suggested conventions are in the attached files (Excel and OpenOffice format).

Revision notes: Version 0.1 contains sample definitions for discussion

Version 1.0 contains complete definitions.

Points for discussion:
  • Are the identifiers too long?
  • Should we state the CRS as WGS84?
