This page provides a forum to identify the core issues associated with the Common Conceptual Model developed to support the meteorology and oceanography community

Core Issues

Adoption of a cross-domain pattern

The common conceptual model is based on ISO/DIS 19156 Geographic Information - Observations and Measurements

For more information please refer to the OGC Standards page: http://www.opengeospatial.org/standards/om

Schematics of the Observation model and associated Sampling Feaure model are provided below:

Consistent terminology and semantics for describing TIME concepts used in meteorological domain

The objective is to agree a standard way to describe the different time perspectives of meteorologists in a way that can be readily understood across thematic domains & then map those concepts onto Observations and Measurements.

A summary of the approach suggested by JeremyTandy (the so-called "Tandy-Time" proposal) can be found here. (updated March 2011)
